FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Laurel, Maryland – October 18, 2013: The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) is taking part in this year's World of Montgomery Festival with an interactive, hands-on experience that allows attendees to operate a robotic camera used to monitor our pipes. The festival is on Sunday, October 20, from noon to 5:00 p.m., at the Westfield - Wheaton Mall parking lot, located at 11160 Veirs Mill Rd, Wheaton-Glenmont, MD 20902.

With this year's festival focused on the "Essentials of Life," WSSC, a key sponsor, is spearheading a fun and educational exploration of the importance and use of water around the world. In addition to the remote control camera, there will be hands-on activities that help visitors understand the impact we have on the health of our environment.

The World of Montgomery Festival celebrates the diverse cultural heritages that play an active role in the lives of area residents. The festival showcases this rich diversity through food, music, dance, traditional arts and projects for children and families. The exhibits include culturally authentic arts, demonstrations and activities aimed at promoting international and multi-cultural awareness.

Other interactive aspects of the festival include an expanded Global Kitchen, with local chefs demonstrating traditional dishes from around the globe and hands-on cooking projects for kids; a series of art projects reflecting on the bonds of family, culture and celebrations; and several service projects addressing needs locally and internationally.

Admission is free and free parking is available nearby. Participants may also take the Metro to the Wheaton station, which is located two blocks from the festival grounds. The address of the event is 11160 Veirs Mill Rd, Wheaton-Glenmont, MD 20902.
