Sanitary Sewer Overflow at Piscataway Wastewater Treatment Plant 10/11/13

Laurel, Maryland – October 16, 2013: A more thorough analysis of the recent Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) at the Piscataway Wastewater Treatment Plant has yielded an updated SSO total as well as revised start and end times.

The SSO began at approximately 10:55 p.m. on October 11 and ended at about 3:00 a.m. on October 12. The overflow amount was approximately 631,000 gallons, revised from the original estimate of 6,000,000 gallons.

The Maryland Department of the Environment and the Prince George’s County Health Department are being notified of the updated information.
