Winners receive $100 and have their art published in 2013 Calendar

Water Art Contest CalendarLaurel – October 22, 2012: The deadline for entries into the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission's (WSSC)  annual calendar contest for students in grades 2 thru 5 who reside in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties is Friday, October 26. This year’s theme is “How I Use Water Wisely.” 

Twelve winners will be chosen. Each winner will receive $100 and the opportunity to have their artwork featured in the 2013 calendar. Approximately 500 student entries were received for the 2012 calendar contest.

Entries must be no larger than 8 ½” by 11” and no smaller than 5 ½’” by 11”. Students may use any type of media (oil, watercolor, pastels, pencil, pen and ink, crayon), but three-dimensional work will not be accepted. Entries that are mounted and framed will not be judged.

Entries must have the artist’s name, grade, school, school address, teacher’s name and teacher’s email address on the back of the entry. Only one entry can be submitted per student.

The deadline for entries is Friday, October 26, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Entries may be sent or delivered to WSSC, Attention: Community Outreach Group, 14501 Sweitzer Lane, Laurel, MD 20707.
