Maryland Emergency Management and Homeland Security Symposium
- Clarion Fountainbleau Resort & Hotel, Ocean City, MD
Presenting a plenary session on water utilities and emergency management. David McDonough, Division Manager - Police and Homeland Security, will talk about critical water infrastructure, how it works, and will provide information on two recent emergencies impacting WSSC - a mystery chemical spill on the Potomac River and an extreme cold emergency leading to major infrastructure failures. These local emergencies will be placed in the context of other incidents of national and international interest in Houston, Puerto Rico and beyond to highlight the challenges water utilities can face during emergencies and disasters as well as the need for greater understanding of those challenges within the emergency management community.
