Jeffrey M. Seltzer
Jeff Seltzer is the Deputy Director for the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), where he is responsible for programs that protect and improve the county’s air, water, and land in a sustainable, innovative, inclusive, and industry-leading way while fostering smart growth, a thriving, more sustainable economy, and healthy communities.
Jeff is a Professional Civil Engineer with over 30 years of experience in environmental restoration and resource management in both the private and public sectors. Jeff joined DEP as Deputy Director in 2024 after serving 14 years in leadership roles for the District of Columbia's Department of Energy and Environment, including as Deputy Director. Since joining DEP, Jeff has managed the department's operations and new initiatives, such as overseeing the development of a new Zero Waste Programs Division and supporting DEP's watershed restoration, energy, climate, and compliance programs. Jeff's past roles also include serving on the DC Water Board of Directors, as chair of the Blue Plains Intermunicipal Agreement Regional Committee, and as a commissioner for the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin.
