This is a non-merit employment contract position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and support a variety of web development solutions, including those in the areas of middle tier and portal architecture, Websphere portal, eCommerce solutions, collaborative tools, and legacy to Web migration. Stay abreast all technology changes within WSSC that may impact users. Work with team members and Section Head and provide technical direction on web site development and/or upgrade initiatives related to front- and back-end programming for Web-based applications development in IBM Websphere or other current environment. Stay abreast current technology trends and be able to make recommendations to the Section Head. Research and recommend best interface solutions for web-based application and services, including time estimates for development and implementation. Analyze, design, develop and test prototype(s). Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Diverse knowledge of multiple programming languages, including XML, .NET, JSP, JSF, JAVA/J2EE,LINUX, and SQL programming languages. Advanced technical knowledge of portal implementations like MQ, HATS, Websphere, and Sharepoint. Advanced working knowledge of model-driven application development using the Rational and Eclipse suite of tools, with a strong focus on reuse. Extensive working knowledge of web design, programming, and scripting, including familiarity with Cold Fusion, PHP, MySQL, CSS, HTML, DHTML, Javascript and others. Familiarity with some web development tools such as Cold Fusion Studio, Homesite, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & Acrobat), Macromedia Suite (Dreamweaver and Flash), and Microsoft Frontpage.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: The individual we are seeking will satisfy all or substantially all of the following: - Bachelor¿s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other technical discipline, OR five (5) additional years of relevant IT professional experience. 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in the web development. Diverse, hands-on experience in programming languages, including Java, Javascript, Eclipse, Rational, XML, JSP, JSF. Experience with development tools including Macromedia Suite (Dreamweaver), IBM FileNET JAVA SDK, IBM Web Content Manager, Business Objects SDK, INFORMATICA Web Services, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop), and ColdFusion Studio. Experience with middleware and enterprise development platforms such as Websphere, HATS, MQ, SharePoint, Eclipse, Rational, Struts, CORBA J2EE, and LDAP, including portal and middleware experience. Experience in both legacy (COBOL) and modern languages (Java) and in implementing interoperability between legacy and modern systems. Experience in projects that connect legacy data from diverse sources through a Web interface. Experience in database design and dynamic content creation by connecting to database such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server. Experience with applying RAD/JAD technology and tools to quickly deliver solutions where applicable. Experience in reviewing architectural structures and identifying architectural issues.
PREFERENCES: Experience with J2EE/Java programming. Experience using the Rational and Eclipse suite of tools. PMP certification or related training. Other relevant certifications.
