Since 2009, the SLMBE Office has hosted its Annual Women Business Owners Expo at the WSSC headquarters in Laurel, MD. This event is held in March as part of Women’s History Month, and focuses on the challenges faced by women business owners in Prince George’s County, Montgomery County and the surrounding areas. This event attracts participation from area organizations such as the Women Business Owners (WBO) of Prince George’s County. Attendees can gather information from various supplier development workshops held during the event. Past participants are The Women’s Presidents Educational Organization (WPEO), Walden University and the Small Business Administration providing insight on the WOSB Self Certification Program. Our own SLMBE Office provides an overview of the Small Local Business Enterprise Program. All attendees have an opportunity to speak with WSSC decision makers and other likeminded organizations such as the Governors’ Office of Minority Affairs and the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) to name a few.

Vendor Days
In 2007, WSSC launched Vendor Days, a new outreach program designed to help Small, Local and Minority Businesses to indentify contractual opportunities with WSSC through a series of in depth education and training seminars. During these sessions, staff from several key WSSC departments will educate small and minority firms on many of procurement procedures, preparation of bid documents as well as upcoming contracts. All of the Vendor Days are held at the main headquarters in Laurel. Check our Calendar of Events to register your firm.
Matchmaking Events & Workshops
The SLMBE Office often holds Matchmaking Events and Workshops for upcoming Contracts. Such events in the past have been the Bi-County Tunnel Project, Environment Nutrient Removal and various other Construction and Engineering projects. You find any upcoming events on our Calendar of Events.
