WSSC Adopts NEW MBE Program
On March 16, 2011, the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (“Commission” or “WSSC”) voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2011-1909, which (i) authorizes a new Minority Business Enterprise (“MBE”) Program referred to as Standard Procedure MBE 11-01 for WSSC; and (ii) authorizes WSSC’s General Manager/CEO to make changes to related Commission regulations so that these regulations reflect adoption of SP MBE 11-01. The new MBE Program is based upon WSSC’s recently completed Disparity Study and other informational sources. WSSC’s new MBE Program became effective May 1, 2011. Small Local Business Enterprise (SLBE) Program
WSSC Adopts NEW SLBE Program
On July 20, 2011, the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (“Commission” or “WSSC”) voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2012-1933 which (i) authorizes a new Small Local Business Enterprise (“SLBE”) Program referred to as Standard Procedure (SP) SLBE 12-01 for WSSC; and (ii) authorizes WSSC’s General Manager/CEO to make changes to related Commission regulations so that these regulations reflect adoption of SP SLBE 12-01. SP SLBE 12-01 reflects both the race and gender-neutral remedies included in WSSC’s recently adopted Minority Business Enterprise Program, SP MBE 11-01, and the modifications to the small business regulations adopted by Maryland’s Department of General Services. The new SLBE Program is based upon WSSC’s recently completed Disparity Study and other informational sources. This Program is intended to provide and additional race-and gender-neutral tool for the Commission to use in its efforts to ensure that all segments of its local business community have a reasonable and significant opportunity to participate in WSSC contracting opportunities. The Small Local Business Enterprise (SLBE) Program furthers the WSSC’s objective of fostering broad-based competition with in the vendor community. The SLBE Program encourages economic growth by offering benefits to small firms headquartered in Montgomery County and Prince George's County.
To participate in the SLBE Program, your principal place of business or a significant employee presence must be located in Montgomery or Prince George's County Maryland.

Once you have completed the SLBE application as instructed, print a copy of the form and mail it to: WSSC Attention: SLMBE Office, 8th Floor, 14501 Sweitzer Lane, Laurel, MD 20707. The process can take approximately 90 days. Your approval is valid for two years, at which time you must submit another application and affidavit to ensure continuity of your approval status. Once your application is approved, you will be placed on our approved registered list for the SLBE Program. Your firm will then be notified of upcoming contracting opportunities under this Program.
