GIRL SCOUTS STORM DRAIN STENCILING PROJECT

If you travel the southeastern portion of the Patuxent Reservoirs' Watershed, look for the handiwork of the Girl Scouts of Community 58. On April 8, 2000, approximately 50 girl scouts stenciled storm drains with the message: "DON'T DUMP, CHEASAPEAKE BAY DRAINAGE". The message reminds people that whatever is put in our streets' storm drains, whether intentional (like dumping motor oil) or unintentional (like fertilizer that gets washed off yards when it rains), generally makes its way into local streams and eventually to the Chesapeake Bay.
