FEASIBILITY REVIEWS
STEP 02

The project manager will conduct the review using guidelines established in Chapter 3 of the Water and Sewer Authorization Process Manual. (CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE MANUAL.)

A study is completed to determine what water, sewer, or other facilities will need to be constructed in order to provide the requested service. It also estimates the costs of extending mains and or other facilities and the assessment yield which will be generated by their construction. A list of conditions which the applicant must comply with in order for service to be provided will be generated.

The first step in the preparation of the study is to review WSSC records to determine the nearest existing water and/or sewer mains to serve the home/property. The route decided upon would be based on sound engineering practice.

These will include but are not limited to the following items:
  1. Design
  2. Field Review
  3. Sizing of proposed mains
  4. Notify neighboring properties for possible connections (2 weeks allowed for responses)
  5. Project sketch
  6. Extension cost sheet and Deficit payment calculations
  7. Identify potential impacts such as rights-of-ways, permits etc.
*** THIS STAGE TAKES APPROXIMATELY 6 - 8 WEEKS ***
